Hall Cosplay

This may be your chance to try competing on short notice! Participants for the Hall Cosplay competition are selected from among convention attendees on-site. There is no advance registration for the competition. Instead, the Hall Scout will go around the convention park area on Friday afternoon, searching for ten impressive and skillfully crafted cosplay costumes.
Hall Cosplay is a solo competition that includes judging, a photoshoot, and an appearance in the stage segment during the cosplay competition on the Tracon Live! stage on Friday evening.

The judging is based on the costume’s technical execution, fit, material choices, character accuracy and craftsmanship. The stage segment does not include a performance but participants are welcome to plan an in-character walk and pose for the audience.

The Hall Cosplay competition will take place on Friday, September 4, 2026, on the Tracon Live! stage from 20:00 to 20:30. The judges will select the top three costumes. There are no source restrictions, and the costume may originate from any licensed work, such as a series, a movie, a game or a book.

Rules

Contestants can not register for the competition in advance, the Hall Scout will go around the convention area on Friday afternoon and select ten contestants. However, you can improve your chances of being selected by being present in the Sorsapuisto area of Tampere Hall on Friday between 16:00 and 18:00.
Participation in the competition requires the contestant to attend pre-judging and a photoshoot before the competition, as well as walk on stage during the competition according to the schedule given by the Hall Scout. The competition will take place on the Tracon Live! stage from 20:00 to 20:30. Winners will be announced immediately at the end of the competition.
The character must be from a licensed source. Original designs or OC characters (original fictional characters) are not allowed. Custom player characters from licensed sources are allowed, provided that the contestant can provide screenshots of the outfit in question (for example, a FFXIV Warrior of Light player character).
If ready-made patterns or 3D models are used, contestants must inform the judges.
There are no source restrictions, and the source material may come from any work, such as a series, a movie, a game, or a book.
A reference image of the costume is required for judging. Please save a few reference images on your phone or, for example, in your email beforehand.
The costume does not need to be new, but it must be at least 80% self-made by the contestant. In addition, the costume must not have been placed or won awards in other competitions.
Contestants cannot choose their own music for the stage appearance. However, each contestant will have approximately 30 seconds on stage for posing.
The competition costume must comply with Tracon’s code of conduct and event regulations.
Contestants must follow the instructions given by Tracon staff and organizers. Inappropriate behavior, breaking rules or instructions, or unjustified delay may negatively affect placement or lead to disqualification from the competition.
You may not participate in Hall Cosplay with a costume that is being used tro compete in another cosplay competition at the same year’s Tracon event.
Judging and photography for the competition will take place indoors at Tampere Hall, so Hall Cosplay contestants must have appropriate admission to the event.

Participation Restrictions

Tracon’s committee is not permitted to participate in any cosplay competition.

Processing of personal information

Personal information of the participants will only be processed by the Cosplay Manager and the Cosplay Team of Tracon. In the competitions, the participants’ names or usernames will be announced according to their choices, as well as the information on the characters and shows.
